Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
EVIDENCE-BASED. PERSONALIZED. ADAPTIVE.
At Adaptive Pediatrics, we use the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to help children develop skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and improve their quality of life—all while adapting to each child’s unique needs.
Understanding Applied Behavior Analysis
ABA therapy is considered the gold standard treatment for autism spectrum disorder and other developmental challenges, backed by decades of scientific research and clinical success.
What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach that applies our understanding of how behavior works to real situations. The goal is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning.
ABA therapy uses evidence-based techniques to teach communication, social skills, learning readiness, and other essential abilities while reducing challenging behaviors that interfere with development and learning.
Key Features of ABA Therapy:
- Personalized treatment goals based on individual needs
- Structured teaching of complex skills broken down into manageable steps
- Positive reinforcement to encourage skill development
- Ongoing data collection to measure progress
- Regular program adjustments based on the child’s progress
- Parent/caregiver training to support skills in all environments

How ABA Therapy Works
ABA therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. At Adaptive Pediatrics, our therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand each child’s unique strengths, challenges, and learning style.
Based on this assessment, our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) develop individualized treatment plans with specific, measurable goals. Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) then work directly with children to implement these plans under BCBA supervision.
Our approach is fluid and responsive – just as a child’s development follows a dynamic path, our methods continuously adapt to incorporate new research, techniques, and insights to provide the most effective care possible.
The ABA Process at Adaptive Pediatrics:
- Assessment: Identifying skills, challenges, and individual learning style
- Goal Setting: Creating specific, measurable objectives
- Treatment Planning: Designing customized intervention strategies
- Implementation: Direct therapy with continuous data collection
- Ongoing Evaluation: Regularly assessing progress and adjusting approaches
- Family Training: Equipping caregivers with supportive strategies

ABA therapy is supported by extensive scientific research showing its effectiveness for children with autism and other developmental challenges.
Decades of Research
ABA has been researched and developed since the 1960s, with thousands of scientific studies demonstrating its effectiveness.
Research consistently shows that ABA therapy can help children with autism learn new skills and reduce challenging behaviors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about ABA therapy and our approach at Adaptive Pediatrics.
What ages do you work with for ABA therapy?
At Adaptive Pediatrics, we provide ABA therapy for children of all ages, from toddlers through adolescents. Early intervention often yields the best results, but it’s never too late to start ABA therapy.
How long does ABA therapy take to show results?
Every child progresses at their own pace, but many families begin to see positive changes within the first few months of consistent therapy. Our regular data collection helps track progress toward specific goals, and we adjust treatment plans as needed to maximize effectiveness.
Do you offer in-home ABA therapy?
Yes, we provide both center-based and in-home ABA therapy options. Many children benefit from learning in their natural environment. We work with each family to determine the most appropriate setting based on the child’s needs and family circumstances.
How many hours of ABA therapy will my child need?
The recommended number of therapy hours varies based on individual needs. After our comprehensive assessment, our BCBAs will recommend an appropriate intensity level. This may range from a few hours per week for focused goals to more intensive treatment of 10-40 hours weekly depending on the child’s needs.
Will insurance cover ABA therapy?
We accept Medicaid and are actively working to expand our network to include additional insurance providers. Our team can help verify your insurance benefits and explain coverage options. Please contact us to discuss your specific insurance situation.
Do parents/caregivers participate in ABA therapy?
Yes! Family involvement is essential to successful outcomes. We provide parent/caregiver training as part of our services to help you learn strategies to support your child’s progress. This collaborative approach ensures skills generalize across environments and maintain over time.
